In 2005 a partnership was formed between Resene, Quality Decorating Ltd, Richard Gedye Ltd and Mainstreet Wanganui.

The aim of this project is to encourage building owners in the Mainstreet Wanganui precinct to enhance the features of their building's façade using a quality paint system in colours that will add to the streetscape of the Mainstreet Wanganui area.

Building owners can take advantage of special paint system discounts and are provided with several colour options that enhance the important architectural features of their building. These options are approved by the Mainstreet Wanganui Design & Heritage Committee.

The Old Bank of New Zealand building situated at 26 Victoria Avenue was painted under the Preserving Our Heritage scheme in 2006 in time to celebrate the building's 100^th anniversary and the River Queen Premiere. Owner Bob Bourdon chose Resene's ‘Sisal' and ‘Gunmetal' colours for the repaint.
