Services

Flags

Enhance your conference or special event with polyknit flags displayed on street poles at three entrances to the city, across the city bridge or throughout the CBD. Each pole carries two flags.  You can choose where you want your flags displayed and how many. For flag bookings and quote please contact Mainstreet Wanganui.

Banners

Gain extra exposure and attract attention with this effective way to promote your conference or event. Two highly visible sites across Victoria Avenue allow your banner to be seen by all vehicle and pedestrian traffic in Wanganui’s main street. For banner bookings and quote please contact Mainstreet Wanganui.

Catwalk

12 fully interlocking units 1.8m long and 1.2m wide can create a variety of configurations that include a catwalk over 21m long, a T-shaped catwalk, a stage and podium. The height of .8m allows for easy audience viewing from any vantage point.

Recessed tubular lighting along the platform edges can be provided and is recommended for evening performances. Power points are fitted on some of the units to allow for displays and equipment to be plugged in eliminating cords running across busy foot traffic areas.

A step unit is provided.

Community Patrol

The 60 volunteer members of Wanganui Community Patrol are proving to be an invaluable support for local police, helping to make Wanganui a safer community.

Members are given full training and support and access to first aid courses. The service they provide helps to free up frontline police officers to undertake patrol duties. The volunteers carryout night patrols in vehicles from Wednesday to Sunday, in locations identified by the police. Their role is to act as the 'eyes and ears' for police, reporting any suspicious activity or unusual occurrences.

The Wanganui Community Patrol also staff the Maria Place community police kiosk all day on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and part of Thursday. Community Patrol receives funding from Wanganui District Council. If you would like further information about becoming a member of the Wanganui Community Patrol, contact Dorothy Symes, phone (06) 349 0495.

Truant- Free Zone

A partnership between Wanganui Truancy Services, New Zealand Police and Mainstreet Wanganui has addressed the problem of students in town by creating a Truant-free Zone in the CBD during school hours.

Retailers and businesses are encouraged to display a Truant-free Zone poster and report any students who enter their premises during school hours.

This initiative has reduced the number of school students offending in the CBD, gives valuable support to the Attendance Officers and demonstrates that education is important and valued.
