From December to March Whanganui’s CBD is awash with flowers. Hundreds of hanging baskets adorn shop verandas complimented by the many gardens that line the streets and occupy the traffic islands. Wanganui has become renowned for the Wanganui in Bloom programme and the colour it lends to the central city shopping precinct.

There is no better time of year to enjoy a coffee at one of the pavement cafes and take in the streetscape.
