A large floor scrubber is activated five days a week from around midnight scrubbing the footpaths and curbing, covering one block per night. At 5am every day of the year a second cleaning team work their way through the CBD emptying all rubbish bins, vacuuming and sweeping the paths and road edges.

Throughout the day a maintenance officer is on duty, responsible for cleaning the Oriental Public Toilets several times a day and attending to any spills and picking up rubbish from the footpaths, streets and parks in the CBD.

At 6.00pm the public toilet is scrub out completely then closed and reopened at 7.00am.
